Mountain Hounds is a weekend getaway for Greyhounds and their owners, with all proceeds from fund raising activities going to Greyhound Friends of North Carolina (GFNC), a 501c3 non profit organization, to help support the kennel and find loving homes for retired racing greyhounds. Mountain Hounds participants will usually begin arriving on Thursday and staying through Sunday. However, many families will be arriving early or staying later into the week for a full vacation.

The 2006 event saw an attendance of 212 people and 234 hounds. For 2007 we had over 200 people and 240 Greyhounds. Participants come primarily from across the eastern United States, with some attendees coming from as far away as southern Florida, Canada, and Minnesota.
