In order
for Mountain Hounds to be a successful event, there are a few rules for all to
observe and follow. Attendees at this event are representing the
Greyhound community at large. A first impression is a lasting impression. This
is our first year at the Sidney James so we must leave a good impression in
order to be invited back next year.
Thank you for your cooperation!
2. Bring an extra sheet or blanket and cover the hotel bed. This will keep hair off the hotel covers.
3. If you have a dog that is prone to destruction when left alone - please have someone with your dog at all times to prevent damage of any kind to property and to the dog. Or bring his crate for him to stay in if he is left alone. You will be held responsible for your dog and any damage to hotel property.
4. Do not allow your dog (s) to urinate on buildings, sidewalk, flowers or shrubbery. Bring a bottle of water to wash away urine and poop bags to pick up poop. We will be monitoring the hotel grounds and providing cleanup as necessary but your help is appreciated.
5. No Flexi leashes are allowed. If your Greyhound is wearing a martingale, please make sure it is secure and does not slip by using the two finger rule. All dogs must have their name and current owner info attached to their collar. If your dog’s tag has your home number we suggest replacing this tag with your cell phone number or attaching a temporary tag with cell phone and hotel phone numbers.
6. The red bandana rule applies. The red bandana signals that the dog may have an issue with different things, such as sniffing or approaching face on or even small dogs. It also signals any handicap such as deafness or blindness. If you see a dog wearing a red bandana ask the owner before approaching.
7. Muzzles are required on the ball field. If you have muzzles - bring them. Muzzles are a safety tool when used properly.
8. Lost dog - Everything stops and everyone looks until the dog is found - period.
9. If you plan to run two or more dogs in the Mountain Hounds Hustle, they must wear a muzzle in order to run! This is a SAFETY rule and there will be no exceptions.
10. Upon your departure, please leave Gatlinburg and The Sidney James just as it was when you arrived. We are welcome here as long as we leave a good impression of how well mannered our Greyhounds are and also of how responsible we are as dog owners. Please do not do anything that will be perceived as "shedding a bad light or negative image" on the very reason of why we gather in large numbers - the Greyhounds.
